Compare Philips Homerun 7000 & Roborock S8

Specification Comparison and Reviews

Suction Power and Cleaning Performance

The suction power of a robot vacuum cleaner determines how well it will clean hard floors and carpets. The higher the suction power, the better the cleaning performance.

Philips Homerun 7000 has a strong suction power of 5000 Pa – enough to suck up the bulk of dirt from carpets and floors.

The mopping capabilities are worth mentioning as it cleans even dried-up stains from the floor. The vacuum cleaner comes with 5 cleaning modes with the intensive mode for thorough cleaning using significant suction power.

However, having a single side brush makes cleaning the corners and nooks challenging for the vacuum cleaner.

On the other hand, the Roborock S8 has an impeccable suction power of 6000 Pa. It efficiently deals with pet hair and cleans hard floors and carpets like magic. However, it might not be the best for high-pile carpets especially if they require thorough cleaning.

With its sonic vibration technology for mopping, the vacuum removes stains and is perfect for quick everyday mopping.

The Roborock S8 comes with 6 side brushes reaching every corner resulting in a dust and debris-free surface.

Navigation and Mapping

Avoiding obstacles and accurately mapping the house is what makes a robot vacuum different from manual ones. Without this feature, a robot vacuum cleaner is like a screenless laptop – absolutely useless!

Philips Homerun 7000 uses LiDaR navigation technology that precisely maps the entire house with a 360-degree scan. The sensors detect obstacles to avoid hitting them. The robot vacuum works in a straight line to clean ensuring every spot is flawless.

Philips Homerun 7000 is exceptional at detecting large obstacles but faces issues while detecting small objects like cords and balled-up paper.

On the other hand, the Roborock S8 uses the PreciSense LiDaR navigation system. It is similar to the Philips Homerun 7000 but slightly more accurate and intelligent.

With its 3D obstacle-avoiding technology, the vacuum cleaner detects small objects even in the dark. So, it provides a more hassle-free cleaning process.

Battery Runtime

Vacuum cleaner’s battery dying mid-cleaning? What an inconvenience would that be! That’s why a considerable runtime and low charging time are what make a robot vacuum worth buying.

Philips Homerun 7000 for 180 minutes on a single charge with its 5200 mAh battery – enough time to clean even the largest of houses. The battery drains faster in Intensive cleaning mode as it uses higher suction power. It goes from 0% to 100% charge within 5 hours.

Roborock S8 has the same runtime as Philips Homerun 7000 i.e. 180 minutes. It also runs out faster if used on a higher suction power. However, it charges within 4 hours from 0% to 100% battery. But it doesn’t affect the runtime or cleaning abilities so you can’t crown it a winner in this competition.

Maintenance

The robot vacuum should clean itself by emptying dust bags making the cleaning process automatic in real time. It should have an easy maintenance procedure ensuring hassle-free cleaning.

Philips Homerun 7000 requires maintenance after every use for example cleaning the brushes and filters and replacing the dust bag. But it doesn’t take that long as the vacuum cleaner automatically empties itself at the docking station which can last up to two weeks before emptying.

On the other hand, the Roborock S8 also has self-emptying capabilities, and cleaning it after every use is relatively easy. However, in order to get the self-empty feature, you need to purchase an additional docking station with a dust bin.

You only need to spend a few minutes after every use to maintain the robot vacuum.

Philips Homerun 7000 Reviews

This Hoover is an amazing asset to any busy home. I love it and it's a game changer in our house. It's relatively easy to set up using the app and get the machine started. I love that it hoovers and hops, its a very clever piece of kit. When it first starts up it uses infrared to scan the room to create a layout, you can use strips to block the signal to places you don't want it to go to which is really helpful. It works relatively quietly and is able to dock itself when done with no problems.

I was confused at first about how to get this setup, but the app makes it all easy. You help it understand the rooms you wish to use, and it maps out the path. This is very smart at avoiding walls and furniture. In the app, you can create a no-zone area to let the vacuum know to avoid this area. This vacuum isn't going to get debris stuck in corners, but it will get the majority of dirt removed. The mop feature is an amazing addition, and it works brilliantly. The docking station makes it so you don't have to change the vacuum every minute and instead, it will dispose of rubbish in there. It's also made to charge the vacuum when it's low on battery. I own two pets and this has been a huge help as it saves a lot of time cleaning up all the pet hairs. The suction power is strong and it hasn't failed to clean up dirt from my tile and lament flooring.

From crumbs to the fine dust, I've always sought an efficient solution. With this robot cleaner, there was little left for me to do. I found the laser navigation impressive; it moved gracefully around furniture and covered areas I'd often forget. Under sofas? Check. Corners? Handled well. The battery life, a significant aspect for me, held up splendidly, allowing me to witness an entire floor cleaned on a single charge. An added plus was its ability to sense and adjust its suction on different floorings. However, while it efficiently vacuumed and mopped, I noticed it occasionally missed fine particles on my barefoot walking areas. But considering the convenience it brought, I'd gladly take this tiny hiccup.

Roborock S8 Reviews

This is Reba, a single mom who works too hard. She's a survivor. This is my 2nd roborock. In between an old model (that is still running and was moved to the basement) and this one, I tried an irobot/roomba. It had so many errors I ended up tossing it directly in the trash, not even worth trying to sell or donate. This roborock model is everything I wanted. It has learned the layout of the house and is so fast and efficient now. I rarely get error messages, but when I do it's for a legitimate reason (like it swept up a pipe cleaner). During the holidays, adding a virtual barrier around our Christmas train was so simple and just as simple to remove. I have 2 dogs who shed and running this twice a week keeps up with them. I've never used the mop feature so can't speak on that, but 10/10 for the vacuum function. The rubber bristles pick up so much more hair and don't get tangled like a bristle brush does. Worth every $.

We decided to purchase a robot vacuum after having LVP flooring installed and struggling to keep them clean with our busy schedules, dogs and children. Slightly over 2 years later we’re still happy, money well spent.

Pretty good little robot vacuum and mop combo. However, you should know that if you schedule this thing to run every day, then you also need to schedule yourself some time every day to empty the dust bin and refill the water tank. They aren't very large, and in our house require daily attention in order to continue operating properly. I regret giving myself another daily chore, and not going in for the Pro Ultra that has a dock featuring a self emptying dustbin and water tank reservoir, even though it is essentially twice the price. What's worse is that I reached out to Roborock support, and they won't sell the dock separately.
