Specification Comparison and Reviews

Estimated Suction Power

Officially speaking, the listed spec for the D10 is “Maximum-Performance” while the D8 is listed as “High-Performance”. Not very detailed, huh? Thankfully, there are users and reviewers out there who have properly tested and measured the suction power!

The difference might seem somewhat minimal in the specs, with the D10 only having about 500 more Pascals in its suction power rating. However, 500 Pa makes a notable difference in real-world performance, with the D10 being much more efficient at picking up dust than the weaker D8.

This is helped by the Max Cleaning Mode, which is exclusive to the Neato D10 and not available at all on the D8. It’s not a quiet mode by any means, but it truly makes the most of the D10’s powerful vacuum power!

Neato D8 – 2000 Pa 60%

Battery Life

Want to know the truth? Battery life is, by far, the biggest difference between the D10 and D8!

The D8 has 100 minutes of battery life according to the manufacturer, but the D10 wouldn’t be satisfied with that. Going above and beyond, the D10 triples that battery life, resulting in 300 minutes of run time per charge! Mighty impressive numbers, honestly.

The battery efficiency of the D10 also makes it ideal for cleaning much larger households, as it’s rated for a coverage area of 2700ft per charge compared to the D8’s 750ft. Let’s just put it like this: the D10 would run laps around the D8 in an endurance race!

Neato D10 – 300 Minutes 90%
Neato D8 – 100 Minutes 45%

🏆 Winner: Neato D10

True HEPA Filter

The last notable difference between the D10 and D8 is that the D10 uses a true HEPA filter. Allergy sufferers rejoice!

HEPA filters allow the D10 to more efficiently trap small dust particles and other possible allergens, making them ideal for those who often suffer from allergies. After all, allergies can be brutal and you want to minimize exposure as much as humanly possible!

The official specs rate the D10’s HEPA filter as filtering up to 99.97% of allergens, while the D8 only filters up to 99% of allergens. The winner is the D10 by far if you suffer from allergies, or if someone else in your household does.

Neato D10 – Yes + 99.97% Allergen Filtration 99%
Neato D8 – No, 99% Allergen Filtration 40%

Our Pick

Neato D10

It’s somewhat surprising that the D10 aren’t that much different overall, but their few key differences have a large impact. As such, we’re definitely picking the Neato D10 as the winner here! Its impressive battery life, HEPA filter, and improved suction power make it a clear winner if you don’t mind the higher price tag.

Neato D10

The D10 replaced our D7 which we had for 7years. The D7 lasted 8 years and gave up the ghost. The D10 works fantastic! You need to have a good network in your house The only drawback is if you have a glitch in the network it will go offline and will lose it's connection and go offline. The stored maps will be lost. The D10 will not recognize magnetic strips for no go areas of the house. It gets 4 stars for that . We have worked around the short comings. It.cleans great! And we love it.

Seriously thinking about returning the vac. It keeps going back to areas its already cleaned. Got stuck in the same spot 4 times during the same cleaning cycle. Something my D7 never did. If there is a laundry basket near a doorway, it won't go in that room. Might be time to look at other brands. Had high hopes for this after my D7. I'll try it another week or two, but if nothing changes I'll be shopping

Major software issues. Requires app to operate but hardware fails to connect properly to application. Support says it's an issue on Android however I've experienced the same issue on IPhone. On day two the device connected to the network with an iPhone and began to work. So far it's an improvement but it's only operated 3 times. Will continue to update review after more time in operation. Update. I've had it up and running for a while now. It's been great. Has to be emptied after cleaning and for pet hair after days of not cleaning, its best to empty the dirt bin during operation for better cleaning because the bin will fill up and the vacuum will keep working without actually cleaning. It would be nice if it had a feature to let you know the bin was full. . Overall a great device to have if you have a busy schedule.

It does a decent enough job. I have 4 dogs so anything that can remotely keep up with them deserves some recognition. I’m kind of annoyed at how long it takes to completely do the house (4 rooms are closed off so to do kitchen, living room, main bedroom and bathroom (685 sq ft according to the app) takes just over an hour) and then I still need to go after it and sweep some before mopping…sometimes I feel like I should just sweep and get it over with in a fraction of the time. I don’t take advantage of running it while I’m away from the house because my dogs like to push their dog bed sofa cover onto the floor sometimes, so I’m stuck running it while I’m home and it’s not the quietest thing. I can see it being 5 stars for someone without multiple pets but for our crazy life, “it’s fine,”

Neato D8

Before this D8, I owned their first generation 1 machine (XV-11). The one that ran on the Linux o/s we could actually program ourselves. So with several generations apart, to this D8 though it has its quirks. Directly comparing it to the old XV-11 and I could see the improvements. I have read a lot of peoples reviews of why the D8 is not to their liking and I disagree. To me, Neato is the forefront of robot vacuum cleaners. None other sounds like a jet engine revving its engine before takeoff when the robot first leaves its dock. I used the APP and even followed it around the house from a safe distance to watch what it does. Using the APP I am able to block off areas I don't want it to go. Though I agree with Reddit users. The previous generation APP with the ability to draw polygons was a lot better than this newer updated version limited to boxes.

I bought a Neat-O d7 Connected in 2018 and it was fantastic!! I had four large dogs and the D7 would pick up nearly all the hair every night! Best machine ever!!! Sadly, the support is diametrically opposite... worst service ever. I lost access to my Neat-O account and thought it was my password. I tried to reset it using the app but it didn't work. I contacted support via email (there is no number to call) and was sent a link to reset my password. The link was circular... I click the link and get a Web page that says to enter my email address. I click reset and I get another email with the same link. I tried creating a new account (different email address) but that doesn't work either. After three more attempts to contact support I get an email saying my request has been escalated...

During COVID we got two dogs. Vacuuming became a weekly task that turned to daily as the dogs got bigger and shed more. This vacuum saves so much time and does a great job getting up hair, dander, and dust. 5 STARS for cleaning and saving me time. The only problem is that the map function only works for one level or floor. We have three levels in the house, and only the one with the base is able to be used in the memory map function. I am able to run it manually on the other two levels, but it has to remap the other two floors. Minus 1 STAR for this problem.

This is my 3rd Neato and cheapest. Other two got ruined, but at no fault of the Neato. This time, I decided to go with a cheaper Neato. My take, it is quieter and more suction. Run time is a little shorter, but is enough to take care of what I use it for in one charge. If yours is not, it just returns to charging base and takes off again once charged. Not a big deal. This cheaper one, and first one I had with an edge brush, does not work(it never turns). The one thing they all have in common, is they get confused and stuck when they are faced with obstacles. I am not sure that will ever change. I bought my first Neato when they first came out.
