Choosing between the Ninja Creami and the Ninja Creami Deluxe is like deciding between a classic sundae and an over-the-top banana split. Both promise to transform your kitchen into an ice cream parlor, but which one deserves a spot on your counter?

Many people wonder, “Why not just use a blender to make ice cream?” It’s a fair question, but understanding how the Ninja Creami works reveals why it’s not the same. Sure, you can use a blender like a Vitamix to whip up something like spinach-based mint ice cream, but that’s where the similarities end. The Creami operates on an entirely different principle.

Blenders, like the Vitamix, are great for pulverizing ingredients but come with significant limitations for making ice cream:

  1. Texture issues: A blender pulverizes everything, so you can’t add mix-ins like chocolate chips without them being obliterated.
  2. Heat generation: Blenders generate heat while blending, which is why you can make hot soups in them. Unfortunately, this heat undermines the texture and consistency needed for true ice cream.

The Creami, on the other hand, doesn’t rely on blending liquid ingredients in the traditional sense. While you may blend certain ingredients beforehand (e.g., fruits), this is only to prepare the base. Once frozen, the Creami’s process is entirely distinct. Comparing a blender to the Creami is like comparing a bicycle to a car. Sure, a bike can get you places, but it’s far more limited in scope than a car.

Now that we have established that you need an actual ice cream maker, let’s compare the top choices Ninja Creami vs Ninja Creami Deluxe.

Specs & Price Comparison

Capacity

The Ninja Creami is equipped with a 16-ounce (1-pint) container, making it ideal for smaller households or those who prefer to create single servings of frozen treats. Its compact capacity ensures minimal waste, particularly for users who enjoy experimenting with different flavors or recipes without committing to larger quantities. This size strikes a balance between convenience and practicality, allowing for easy storage in smaller kitchens or freezers.

In contrast, the Ninja Creami Deluxe features a larger 24-ounce (1.5-pint) container, catering to families or individuals who entertain frequently. This expanded capacity means you can prepare more substantial batches, making it a great choice for larger households or gatherings. Whether you’re hosting a party or simply want enough ice cream to last a few days, the Deluxe model offers the flexibility to meet those needs.

However, its larger size may take up more storage space, which is worth considering if kitchen space is limited.

So, which is better? Well, it depends on how you use it. If you don’t want to make a lot of ice cream or you are living alone, you probably don’t need the larger capacity of the Ninja Creami Deluxe.

Programs

Ninja Creami Programs

The Ninja Creami comes with seven pre-set programs, including options for ice cream, sorbet, gelato, lite ice cream, milkshakes, smoothie bowls, and a mix-in program.

These programs cover the essential bases for creating a variety of frozen desserts, making it an excellent choice for users who prioritize simplicity and functionality. With these settings, you can achieve great results for most common recipes, ensuring a straightforward and user-friendly experience.

The Ninja Creami Deluxe, however, takes the programming up a notch by offering 11 pre-set options.

In addition to the programs included in the original model, the Deluxe version adds unique features such as slushy, Italian ice, frozen drink, Creamiccino, and frozen yogurt.

These additional programs expand the versatility of the machine, enabling users to experiment with a wider range of textures and flavors. Whether you’re craving a refreshing slushy or a creamy frozen drink, the Deluxe model’s expanded programming makes it a more adaptable option for adventurous dessert enthusiasts.

With that said, just because the Ninja Creami 7-in-1 doesn’t have a preset, it doesn’t mean that it cannot be used for making frozen drinks.

Features

While the Ninja Creami provides reliable performance with its essential features, it lacks some of the enhancements found in the Deluxe version.

Its focus is on delivering consistent results with core functionalities, making it a straightforward and approachable appliance. The inclusion of the mix-in program allows for the incorporation of add-ins like chocolate chips or nuts, giving users some level of customization for their creations.

The Ninja Creami Deluxe, on the other hand, is packed with additional features that elevate its usability.

One standout feature is the dual processing capability, which allows you to create two different mix-in flavors from the same base, offering greater flexibility for serving diverse preferences.

The Deluxe model also includes an Auto-Smoothie function, which streamlines the process of creating silky-smooth beverages with minimal effort.

Ninja Creami 7-in-1 Reviews

Absolutely love this machine. It is about the size of our Ninja large coffee maker. We use it to make lower-calorie and high-protein alternatives to store bought ice cream and it works great for that. It does taste some experimenting with but there are tons of YouTube videos you can find with recipes and tips to use. It is also great for normal ice cream and comes with a handy recipe book to use. Be aware that the machine is pretty powerful, so it is loud. When we run it we sometimes with step into another room. This isn’t too much of an issue but if you are sensitive to noise be careful. It is also important that you clean the blade, container, and lid after each use so bacteria doesn’t grow. We do this by hand and dishwasher and it is fine. It’s a great little machine that does need to be maintained, but that maintenance is very easy and is totally worth the ease of use of being able to make ice cream at home. Would recommend!

This is now the third time in my life I've tried a home ice cream maker. Well, third time is the charm! This machine is AMAZING! The chocolate hazelnut gelato you see pictured above is made with skim milk and sweetened with allulose, making it low calorie while still completely delicious and creamy. How the machine gets skim milk so creamy I have no idea! It's even better if you use a little half and half. The pint I made tonight was 315 calories for the whole pint, and it has exactly what I want in it. I hate all other non-sugar sweeteners, and I prefer not to have tons of fat and sugar. Here are the advantages of the Creami over my discarded ice cream makers of the past: --it seems to be nearly fool proof. You won't always get a great result if you're just winging it, but you do generally end up with actual ice cream. In the other ice cream makers, if you got the proportions wrong, it would sometimes not really freeze or it would get icy. --It's so much easier to get the ice cream out and to clean! The ice cream maker I had with a compressor was such a pain--you had to get the ice cream out around the paddle, or dig the paddle out of the ice cream, and invariably you end up making a mess. The Creami pints are so much easier to deal with. Even the lid, which is a little more annoying, is pretty easy to clean once you know what to do. (Read the manual, even though you have to go online to get it--it's important to take out the rubber gasket and clean under it.) --It doesn't matter if you have leftovers that freeze hard as a rock. We never enjoyed eating ice cream from our other makers on the next day, because they always hardened so much in the freezer. (And you had to make so much we always had leftovers.) With the Creami, if the leftovers freeze hard, you can just process them again and have just as good an experience the next day. The only real downsides I can see are 1) you have to wait 24 hours for your pint to freeze before you can make it into ice cream, and 2) the horrendous noise the machine makes.

I have had this now for a while, I wanted to wait to do the review until I had ample time to try it out. It is incredibly loud, not a deterrent for me, but just pointing it out. I started off trying recipes from on line videos I found, that was a fail! Not sure how theirs turned out tasting good, but I was not a fan of most. I turned to the manual that comes with it. First let me say that the measurements given were WAY to much to even fit in the cups to the limit lines. Truth is you will need to make it sweeter in liquid form than what you want once it is frozen and turned into ice cream (the sweetness seems to dim after freezing). My favorite was when I used coconut cream, the flavor and texture was the best! I also will say the order the manual tells you to mix did not work for me. I found that I did the first blend, then did a re-churn, THEN did the mix-ins always last and that worked the best for me. If I fill the container to the limit line, I find that the entire container does not get mixed though. So if you plan to make larger quantities I would not recommend this. Smaller self serving/portion control type situation, this works great for.

I got tired of walking past the ice cream/sherbet aisle in the market. All I saw was sugar infused, excess ingredient cartons that the same old flavors I've been seeing for decades. Now I have endless options. Just about any fruit can be turned into sherbet. I've done banana, apples, cherries, blueberries, melon, peach, fruit cocktail, and strawberry already. I know exactly what I'm getting because I was the one who put the ingredients into the container. Now if there's a sale on fresh fruit I can buy extra and freeze it in one of the containers and have it available when I want it. I don't have to worry about throwing things away because they get too ripe.

Ninja Creami Deluxe 10-in-1 Reviews

I LOVE my Ninja Creami! But I will be the first to admit that it can be a little intimidating at first (frightening even, given the sounds that emanate from it), and it can feel like it has a steep learning curve (and I'm a tech reviewer and tech lawyer, and one of those people who generally just jumps in and figures things out without reading the manuals ("Manuals? We don't need no stinkin' manuals!"), so for me to feel like I'm not 'getting' something ..well, yeah. So if you are feeling a little bewildered by your new Ninja Creami, *you're not alone*!) Plus, the manual does *not* include certain information that I, at least, was looking for. Such as what do 'spin' and 're-spin' mean, and can you just spin again instead of respinning? How hot should the hot water be for slushies? Why does my Creami sometimes overflow and leak and how to make sure that doesn't happen? Can you really put in chunks of fruit before freezing? And just where are those damned 'freeze fill' and 'max fill' and 'pour-in' lines? Things like that. So, here are a few tips that have really helped me to finally 'get' it, plus instructions for two things that you can make in your Creami that will change your life: vegan ice cream made from silken tofu (only 3 ingredients), and a super-refreshing tomato ice (great for hot days and only 1 ingredient!) THE NOISE: First, one of the most frequent observations about the Creami is how loud it is. Yes, the Ninja Creami is loud. Like, incredibly loud. Not only that, but the noises it makes can sound like it's about to explode. This is normal. But it only lasts for a few minutes and, in fact, you can walk away while it's doing its thing, if you like. This may feel scary, but trust us, it's ok.

I can’t say enough good things about the Ninja Creami! This machine has revolutionized the way I enjoy frozen desserts at home. Whether you’re in the mood for classic ice cream, sorbet, gelato, or something more adventurous like a Creamiccino, this machine delivers perfect results every time. The setup was incredibly straightforward, and the user-friendly interface makes it easy to select exactly what you want. I love how the dial gives you the option to choose between “Scoopable” and “Drinkable” textures, allowing for ultimate customization based on your preference. The "Re-Spin" function is a game-changer for achieving that perfect consistency, especially when adding mix-ins. One of the standout features is the versatility. From making indulgent ice cream to healthier options like lite ice cream and frozen yogurt, the possibilities are endless. I’ve experimented with everything from dairy-free recipes to high-protein options, and the results have always been fantastic. The machine handles different textures and ingredients effortlessly, providing a smooth, creamy outcome that rivals any store-bought treat. Cleaning the Ninja Creami is also a breeze, which is a huge plus. The removable parts are dishwasher safe, and the machine itself is designed to minimize mess, making the whole process hassle-free.

Well, this may be one of the coolest appliances yet, I am in the learning phase, but did a high protein ice cream and it turned out great, it is heavy, really easy instructions written out perfectly with great recipes. It is a big pint size for a family and you can do 2 different types of mix ins or ice cream (I believe). I love making homemade ice cream and have had the cuisinart for years - which I really like, but the ice cream melts so quickly - I can tell you that my ice cream was rock hard and once I mixed in the machine it became much more creamy - but it stayed that way for awhile. I am going to play with real cream, this week and can update after - I also cannot wait to make frozen drinks!!!! I’ve been waiting for a year to get this and was able to get in on October prime days woo hoo!!!
