Xiaomi entered the world of scooters in 2016, and since then they’ve steadily produced new scooters over the years. What’s more, it seems they’re quite well-received overall, so they aren’t slacking off either!

In this article, we’ll be pitting 2021’s Xiaomi Scooter 3 to its older sibling, 2020’s Xiaomi Scooter Pro 2. Interestingly, the naming difference and the removal of the “Pro” somewhat imply that the Scooter 3 is a bit more “standard” in some ways. Its cheaper pricing seems to reflect that as well!

But, what really are the differences between both of these scooters, and does the older Pro 2 stand the test of time against its younger sibling? Well, keep reading and we’ll dive into the spec sheets for both of these scooters and see how they differ from each other!

Compare Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 vs Electric Scooter Pro 2

Specification Comparison and Reviews

Climbing Angle

Our first notable spec in this comparison is the climbing angle, which tells us just how steep of a slope each scooter can climb. Both of these Xiaomi scooters have angles that are just barely above the average, though!

But the clear winner here is the Scooter Pro 2, which has a 20º climbing angle. By comparison, the standard Scooter 3 has a climbing angle of just 16º.

Neither of them will really get you up particularly steep slopes, sure, but the Scooter Pro 2 is your best choice here if this is an important spec for your intended routes.

Charging Time

Is having a quick charge important for you to have on your scooter? Well, then the choice will be extremely easy for you in this comparison! The newer Xiaomi Scooter 3 boasts a charging time of 5 hours and 30 minutes, which is a fairly decent standard charging time for a scooter. The Scooter Pro 2 doesn’t fare quite as well, though!

Indeed, the Xiaomi Scooter Pro 2 has a very long charging time of up to 9 whole hours for a full charge. It sure won’t be charging in a jiffy, this scooter needs a while to rest!

So, if you’re someone who would prefer a shorter charging time, then the Xiaomi Scooter 3 is your best bet for you. It charges a whole 3 hours and 30 minutes faster than its older sibling…

Max Distance Per Charge

So, we already talked about the charging time, but what about the battery life? How much distance can you make in a single charge with your scooter?

Well, the Xiaomi Scooter 3 can go for about 30km before its battery is fully drained, while the Xiaomi Scooter Pro 2 can ride for 45km. That’s a 50% increase from the Scooter 3 to the Pro 2!

But is it really all that much of an upgrade when taking charging time into consideration? After all, the Pro 2’s battery takes 63% more time to charge from empty to full than the Scooter 3’s. It doesn’t quite add up, does it?

However, we’re still giving the win in this spec to the Xiaomi Scooter Pro 2, as it’s better if you want to go for a long trek on a single charge.

Our Pick

Xiaomi Scooter Pro 2

Both of these Xiaomi scooters serve slightly different functions, with the Scooter 3 being better for more frequent shorter trips and the Pro 2 being better for longer less frequent trips. However, the improved climbing angle and improved build quality make us prefer the Xiaomi Scooter Pro 2 overall!

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 Reviews

Have been using it for 2 weeks. The scooter is such a time-saver! I live a little far away from the town centre but it’s not far enough to drive a car or take a bus and yet still will take me at least 30 mins to reach my gym by foot. Now I have this scooter it will only take me 10 mins to reach my destination. What a life changer! I certainly go to the gym much more often. It save me time and also propels me to exercise more. Just couldn’t be more happy!

The downsides are that the brakes aren’t tightened properly and you will need an air compressor to keep the pressure of the tires at 45-50psi, a good air compressor costs £50. The battery life isn’t great but it’s a nice scooter to ride

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 has been a game changer for my daily commute. Living in Southgate and working in nearby venues in Southgate and East Barnet, this scooter has made my life so much easier. The speed is impressive, and I'm able to travel without any support in areas like Cat Hill. The convenience of being able to fold it up and take it with me on public transportation is also a huge plus. But be careful it is not accepted in underground. The only downside I've experienced is that the battery charge doesn't last as long as I had hoped. If I make a round trip from Southgate to East Barnet, I have to make sure to charge it before heading back, or the battery will die during the return journey. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase of the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3. It's a reliable and efficient mode of transportation that has made my daily commute much more enjoyable. Highly recommended! Unfortunately it has been stolen from my car. Don't leave it outside. Take it to your house

I've been using it every day for about 15 km per day for a month and a half, I'm very happy with this scooter even in rainy weather while avoiding puddles of water, of course, it's solid, and practical - what's good is the bell that comes with it as well as a spare tire, and a tire inflation valve, how much with a brand phone you can download the application that sees We drive kilometers and also to lock it. - the worst is the anti-theft device, which is useless because you can't put it on the rear wheel, it's a shame. I am very satisfied and I recommend it

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 2 Pro Reviews

I've been interested in Xiaomi's Mi for a while, I was sceptical about the idea of owning one as I'm a tall fella (6"3) and weight in at 105kg (pro 2 max weight is 100kg) and to top it off I live in a very hilly environment so was expecting the worst. However this pro 2 is brilliant. It can handle inclines of 20% and if you put your energy into it as well the motor won't struggle. The quality of the scooter has certainly improved from the original essential (don't buy that if you're tall, heavy and live amongst the hills). The tires are air pressured and require extra parts in order to comfortably pump up (mainly the front wheel as it's the motor). The delivery was fast and painless. I purchased a 'damaged' scooter for £20 cheaper but was only the box that had the marks, the rest was me... Came with an extra tire, a pump extender and the charger. My two main problems with this purchase however, is that; 1: I didn't realise that the charger was EU and not UK, don't believe it was mentioned in the description but I may be wrong. 2: The rubber hook protection for carry mode came off immediately and have lost that now. Not a huge issue however factory glue would of prevented that. All in all a great purchase. Will update if required.

This scooter is awesome. The scooter has no problems accelerating, tops our at 16 mph. We've gone on a few 2-3 mile mile rides and have not seen the battery bar drop at all. Would be very confident to take this on at least a 10 miles ride, maybe more. It also has plenty of power to pull me (180lbs) up a hill. I used it today to drive up what was probably a 6% grade and I was still able to run 12-13 mph with no problems accelerating to that speed. Great buy, very happy

I'm going to concentrate on negatives, but let me say first, that overall this scooter is well constructed and, so far, it works and gets me around. Inflatable tyres – they’re absolutely useless. I bought the scooter only 2 weeks ago and I’ve just managed to replace the front with a solid tyre, having done the rear last week. Had a puncture on third trip after only doing about 10 miles in total while the front just leaked. If you do a quick scan through comments, you will see others. If you buy this, suggest you buy a pair of solid tyres at the same time – you will need them. Getting them on is extraordinarily difficult though if you live in a flat without a work bench and proper tools. Doing it in the kitchen with hand tools is no fun and you will scratch the wheels to hell. And if you think the back wheel looks hard, wait till you come to the front. When you come to do it, suggest watching some videos and make sure you have the tools and plan what you have to do (some cable ties will be helpful at least for the rear). Why on earth did this scooter not come with solid tyres in the first place? This was unforgivable.

I waited a reasonable amount of time to be able to use the scooter and to be able to draw real conclusions. This model has quite a few improvements compared to the previous ones, especially in terms of quality and assembly, which makes it much more robust and feels more stable. The range is still 30 km, I think for regular use, it falls a little short, but currently no model of the brand is giving more autonomy. The maximum speed is 25 km/h if driving on a bike path it seems like a good speed, but the moment you start driving it on the road you feel like a turtle compared to cars. It decreases a lot uphill. The folding of the skate is exactly the same as the rest. Bring a spare tire in case you puncture. The scooter comes disassembled together with an Allen wrench and a few screws to assemble it. Very easy to assemble. In short, if you are looking for a means of transport, for a flat city with good weather. It's a good choice
