Roborock S6

Roborock have so many robot vacuum models available that it can be very confusing trying to pick just one for your household. The S5 Max and S6 are some of the most popular models, though, so it’s easy to narrow your choices down to these two!

There’s an important fact you should know about the naming of these robot vacuums, though. The numbering might make you assume that the S6 is a newer model, right? Well, that’s actually not the case!

The S5 Max is a newer model than the S6 by a month! The S6 was released in August 2019 and promptly followed up by the S5 Max releasing in September 2019. Yes, we agree, the naming of these models is very confusing!

That aside, what sets them apart? Was that extra month put to good use making the S5 Max the best robot cleaner it can be?

Well, in this article we aim to find out just that! We’ll compare the specs of both of these Roborock robot cleaners and see which one is the best one for you.

Compare Roborock S5 Max and Roborock S6

Specification Comparison and Reviews

Dustbin Capacity

The first notable difference is a relatively minor one, but also the only one in which the Roborock S6 has a clear win. Dustbin capacity is simple: how much debris the vacuum can hold before it needs to return to its dock to be emptied. Surprisingly, the Roborock S6 has a marginally larger dustbin of 480ml, while the S5 Max only holds about 460ml. It’s not a large difference, of course, but it’s something!

It’s unlikely to matter much in the long run, but the slightly larger dustbin does make the S6 more efficient at vacuuming. Credit where it’s due!

Water Tank Capacity

The Roborock S5 Max might have lost the battle when it came to the dustbin’s capacity, but it’s ready to come back swinging!

When it comes to thee water tank’s capacity, the S5 Max boasts a very large capacity of 290ml. On the other hand, the S6 can only hold about 140ml of water. What a comeback for the S5 Max!

Thankfully, both systems do also feature automatic top-up, so they can refill automatically when they return to the dock. But this does mean that the S6 will be going back and forth much more often than the S5 Max when mopping. In the end, this is an easy win for the S5 Max!

Water Flow Control

Another one of the biggest differences in mopping efficiency between both of our robot contestants here is the water flow control options.

The Roborock S5 Max allows you to choose from 4 different levels, and you can even change them anytime by using an app on your smartphone. It even allows you to program different water flow levels for different rooms!

On the other hand, the Roborock S6 has a much more basic feature set. There are only two water flow levels to choose from, and they can only be changed by using the switch on the water tank itself. It’s not bad, but it pales in comparison to its younger sibling.

Mopping Enhancements

Our last key difference is yet another one that involves the mopping system on these robot cleaners. Those of you who primarily want a robot cleaner for mopping must be really enjoying this comparison! But well, the mopping system is the only real difference between both models.

Anyway, the Roborock S5 Max has a last trick up its sleeve: a set of springs below the mop adds 300 grams of extra pressure, vastly improving the mop’s performance. It presses against the floor much better!

On the other hand, the Roborock S6 has nothing particularly special about its mopping system. It’s a fairly basic and standard system for a robot cleaner.

300 Grams of Extra Pressure 95%
Roborock S6
None 10%

Our Pick

Roborock S5 Max

The Roborock S5 Max is by far the superior model, though that mostly depends on whether you plan to make heavy use of its mopping features. Nonetheless, the Roborock S5 Max seems to be more readily available and overall cheaper than the S6 too, so you can’t go wrong with it!

Roborock S5 Max Reviews

We've only had it for a few days, but I've run it a lot already to test it and honestly, play around as well. This is by far a lifesaver, and I can truthfully say that our floors have never been cleaner with such low maintenance. *** Pros *** 1. You can run this thing whenever (even when you're not home), in any place, room, zone, etc. - you don't have to do an entire floor when you just want one room or spot. 2. My floors have never been cleaner. Simple as that - the suction on this thing is incredible. And it's not very loud at all, especially on "balanced" mode. 3. The Roborock app is extremely intuitive and feature-filled. Lots of different options and controls. Takes some getting used to at first, but its great. 4. It goes under my bed, nightstands, and dresser - which are places that are a nightmare to vacuum regularly. I didn't even think it would when I first bought it (kind of an afterthought), but I saw it do with my own eyes and that earned a star or two itself. AND it went under my dining tables, in between chairs, to get every spot. As long as the space is wide enough for the robot to get through, it'll clean it. Again - wasn't imaging that it would do that! 5. They update the firmware, so you know they are supporting and improving their products. Spending this much from a brand that isn't as well known is a risk, but that part at least made me more comfortable. Also, there is a subreddit for Roborock, where you can get some support and learn more. 6. I have a roughly 3/4-inch room transition between my mud room and kitchen...and I was worried the robot wouldn't climb it. Silly me, this thing goes right over it! Doesn't mean it will do it with any transition, maybe it's the shape of mine...no idea, but it does it with ease! *** Cons *** (Mind you I still gave a 5-star rating, so these aren't deal breakers by any means, more of an FYI) 1. I can echo what some of the reviewers said about how this isn't truly "mopping". You cannot use any cleaner, polish, or disinfectant with it (good idea for the future for them though, along with an additional revenue stream) - it's just running a damp cloth over the floor. So you will still have to do old fashioned mopping, or Swiffering, or something once in a while to really clean the floors. But it's fine for maintenance. AND I knew that before I bought it - know one should buy this thinking that it's going to truly mop

Initial review of this after having this for one day: awesome. We are a family of 4 with two dogs, one of which is a massively shedding German Shepherd. Whatever we have, gets a workout for sure. We're using this on the main floor of our home, which is a mix of carpet and porcelain tile that is super hard to keep clean (I regret this choice, but here we are). This vac is customizable to multi-level homes but that would require you to move it. I bought this to replace a Roomba i7+ that gave me high blood pressure on a daily basis. Tossed that in the trash with fury I didn't know I had, did some homework, and found a review on the S5Max that sounded good. Wha-bam, the next day this guy showed up. Ran it last night just to create a map and this thing is QUIET!! So much quieter than my Roomba. With the S5Max, you can set customized vac levels - balanced, turbo, and max. With the mapping, I just left it on balanced. It will "carpet boost" if needed and did a couple of times but it was still pretty quiet. I was amazed we could still watch tv and it didn't send my senior dog running for the hills because of the noise. It also didn't bump into everything to know where it is. I have yet to try the other speeds but will update this if needed. You can watch it map in real-time (the Lidar is amazing), customize room dividers, name rooms, set customized schedules by room with vac only, vac & mop, or mop only. With the mopping function, you can also choose water levels per room as well. Simple initial set-up but if you're used to using the iRobot app, this might take a minute to get used to. Thankfully I have a 9-year-old on standby if needed.

If you're in the fence about buying this vacuum, just buy it. It's worth it. My wife and I already had another brand of robot vacuum, albeit one of their lower-end models and weren't thrilled about it. It binked around each room cleaning the best it could and more often than not got hung up or trapped so,ew here and we'd have to go around the house trying to find it. It was nice when it worked as intended, and that wasn’t very often. We decided it wasn’t even worth the hassle and decided to shelve it, and were debating whether to get another robot vacuum or just give up on the idea entirely. Then we happen to see a YouTube review of this particular vacuum. It got a glowing review, and had few, if any, drawbacks. We were skeptical, but decided we would just send the vacuum back if it didn’t live up to our expectations and maybe revisit the idea of a robot vacuum somewhere down the line. So we ordered this one and gave it a try. Man, am I glad that we did. The stuff that we heard about this vacuum isn’t just hype. This vacuum is the real deal. It does everything we need it to do and we rarely have to mess with anything having to do with it other than emptying out its container every day or two. The only thing that would make this vacuum perfect is if it emptied itself, other than that, it does it all.

To start off, I'd never purchased a robot vacuum before. I always thought they were gimmicky wastes of time (some probably still are). And while this to me doesn't replace a good vacuuming and mopping, it sure comes about 80% of the way there in my opinion. Pros: 1) holds up well to daily cleanings and sometimes multiple times per day 2) gets a ton of (in our house) dog hair, dust, dirt and random specks of stuff 3) has a good battery life and can run for an hour + (I'm not sure where the manufacturer is getting 180 mins from... perhaps they are running it at the lowest suction power... I run mine on the turbo setting (max)) 4) saves me from having to vacuum so often - I honestly haven't vacuumed since getting this about a month or so ago - I'm a little OCD, so if something cleans 80% of what a regular vacuum would... I like to go over it about once a week or so. 5) Well worth the $500+ price tag for peace of mind and vacuuming reduction 6) Floor mopping - does a decent, but not great job of this. but of course you can't really put much other than water in it. Roborock's manual frowns upon any cleaning solutions in the water tank. 7) Much cheaper than Roomba's and to me it works just as well. Don't be turned off by the Chinese manufacturing, it's a good product. Cons: 1) not to be run during movies or at bedtime - little noisy, but not like an airplane taking off or anything 2) doesn't pick up everything - again though, for what it does and for the price, this item is still a steal 3) Initial high price of $450-$550 (depending on if it's on sale) - however, that con is quickly paid off in about a month worth of cleaning. you'll thank me later if this review swayed you to purchasing this for your home 🙂

Roborock S6 Reviews

Have bought the roborock S6 Pure a few days ago. So far we are very excited and I would like to say why - for all who think about a vacuum robot - we didn't have a vacuum robot before. So I can't compare it to other devices. I can't say much about technical data either. I can only say subjectively what pleases and what is not. The roborock arrived well packed with us. Fast delivery (even a day earlier than expected). When commissioning, I proceeded strictly according to instructions. That is, the first thing to do is to set up the charging station. (It was pointed out here that you could attach them with an adhesive tape. If this is not necessary, you can remove the tape again. With us, this was no problem at all without tape. So: First test whether the station stops like this. Then you don't have to unnecessarily pull off the tape later.) Next: robot put on the charging station and charged. This is just the right time to install the necessary app in between. Here you have two options: the Roborock app or the Xiaomi home app. Since I don't want to use any other devices with the app, I chose the Roborock app. Now comes one of my main pluses of this device: I do not know how you are doing, but I have had the experience that often there are problems with electronic devices during commissioning. You look forward to a great product for days and then something does not work right at the beginning (link to the network does not work, device shows any error messages or so) Well... not so in this case! The Roborock was found immediately, could connect to the Wi-Fi and could have started. Unfortunately, it was a little late for that. Therefore, the next day for the first time sent the robot with the help of a click in the app to create a map. (So quasi a map of the floor) Folded without any problems. ( Important here: Once remove all the unimportant objects from the floor (shoes, decorative stuff etc.), open all doors and I personally kept guard at the landing of the stairs, so that the roborock does not sail down the stairs right at the beginning. Perhaps that would not have been necessary, but it was not bad for one time to put a ledge in front of the abyss.

As someone who's always looking for ways to make household chores a little easier, I was really excited to try out the Roborock s6 pure. And I have to say, I was extremely impressed with this robot vacuum's performance. One of the first things I noticed about the Roborock s6 pure is its sleek, modern design. It's a really attractive appliance that looks great in any room of the house. But what's even more impressive is the technology that's packed into this little machine. The Roborock s6 pure is incredibly powerful, with the ability to pick up even the smallest particles of dust and debris. I was amazed at how much dirt and pet hair it was able to collect from my carpets and hardwood floors, and how clean my floors looked after just one cleaning cycle. But what really sets the Roborock s6 pure apart is its advanced features. It has a smart navigation system that allows it to map out your home and clean every inch of your floors, without missing a spot. And with the ability to connect to your Wi-Fi network, you can control the robot vacuum from your smartphone or even with your voice, using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

First of all: Please remember accessories and order them right away, in particular wipes (washable) and the filter. The filter can be rinsed out. Start-up is easy and presents no hurdle for those interested in technology. The mopping function is sufficient for normal dirt. Simply click on the tank with a wiping cloth. I simply use some fit/dishwashing detergent in the water and on the wipe. In the app, you can have the room/area cleaned up to 3 times in a row. As a guideline: 1 square meter = 1 minute with 1 cleaning We are satisfied. A great vacuum robot for a good price. If you want a bit more luxury, such as an exhaust station or a better mopping function, you should take a look at the S7 series.

I bought the Roborock s6 pure in mid-2022 because my old one from Rowenta unfortunately no longer worked. What I noticed positively: The app — it's fun and helpful if you can send it to specific corners, you don't have to divide the apartment with any magnetic strips, but everything can be done in the app. Intensities, etc., are also variable. Con: - the corners - this one is nowhere near as thorough! - If it is programmed and I call it up remotely and want to let it run out of line, there is no connection to the Internet, i.e. then I have to wait until I'm home again - and since it's a bit too loud to run on the side, which is completely okay if I'm not there/in the other room 😉 then this combination is unfortunate. I can only say a limited amount about the wiper function - it works well for me, but I also have nothing but some dust on the floor... Conclusion: the Rowenta vacuum cleaner with this app would be ideal:)
