Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 and Honor Magic V2 Differences

Specification Comparison and Reviews

Display

The Xiaomi Mix Fold has an 8.03” screen with a display resolution of 1916 x 2160, giving us a pixel density of 360 PPI. In case you don’t know, a higher PPI means that the image will appear clearer.

The Honor Magic V2 has a marginally smaller screen at 7.92 inches, but a higher display resolution of 2156 x 2344, resulting in a higher pixel density of 402 PPI.

When it comes to image quality, the Honor Magic V2 is a clear winner! The screen size is only a smidge smaller but the resolution is notably higher, leading to a more crisp overall image. However, there’s another factor to account for: the maximum potential brightness. In this case, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has a higher brightness of 2600 Nites while the Honor Magic V2 has a peak brightness rating of 1600 Nits. This makes the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 better for use in areas with lots of light, such as outdoors on sunny days!

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 – 1916 x 1680 Resolution, 360PPI Pixel Density, 8.03 inches, 2600 Nits 90%
Honor Magic V2 – 2156 x 2344 Resolution, 402PPI Pixel Density, 7.92 inches, 1600 Nits 80%

🏆 Winner: Honor Magic V2 for image quality, Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 for brightness

Front Camera

Let’s be real here, this category is entirely up to personal preference, as each phone excels in a different area.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has a whooping 20MP resolution for its frontal camera! Photos come out great but video quality has some sacrifices, as it can only record video up to 1080p at 60 frames per second. Conversely, the Honor Magic V2 has a lower megapixel resolution of 16MP which results in worse photos. It makes up for it by being able to record video in 4K at 30 frames-per-second, though! Of course, it also supports 60 frames-per-second on lower resolutions.

It’s quite an even match truth be told, as each phone has trade-offs between photos and videos. If you use the front camera more for photos, go with Xiaomi’s offering. If you use it for videos primarily, then the Honor Magic V2 is your best choice!

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 – 20MP resolution, 1080p @ 60FPS video 85%
Honor Magic V2 – 16MP resolution, 4K @ 30FPS video 75%

🏆 Winner: Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 for pictures, Honor Magic V2 for video

Rear Camera

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has a quad-lens setup, with the main lens being 50MP. This lens brings three pals with it, as it’s accompanied by two 10MP telephoto lenses and one 12MP ultrawide lens.

On the other hand, the Honor Magic V2 opts for a triple-lens setup. Just like the Xiaomi offering, the main lens is 50MP. Alongside this lens, there’s a 20MP telephoto lens and a 50MP ultrawide lens. Overall, the Honor Magic V2 provides much better picture quality!

While you might assume that means the Honor Magic V2 instantly wins, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has a few tricks up its sleeves as well.

The first one is that its optical zoom can reach up to 5x, compared to the 2.5x zoom of the Honor Magic V2. Additionally, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 supports slow-motion recordings at up to 1920 frames-per-second at 1080p. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 also allows for recording at 8K video resolutions, while the Honor Magic V2 is limited to 4K. However, video quality at that resolution is less than ideal due to the lower MP of the additional lenses, so it feels somewhat like a gimmick.

Ultimately, the Honor Magic V2 has a clear win when it comes to overall quality. However, if slow-motion and zoom are a must for you, you’ll want to pick the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. What a close fight!

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 – Quad Lens (50+10+10+12), 8K @ 24FPS video, 5x Optical Zoom, Slow Motion Support 80%
Honor Magic V2 – Triple Lens (50+20+50), 8K @ 60FPS video, 2.5x Optical Zoom 86%

🏆 Winner: Honor Magic V2 for overall quality, Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 for extra features

Wireless Charging Support

If you’re the kind of person who absolutely requires wireless charging on their phone, only one of the two phones we’re comparing today will work for you!

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 allows for wireless charging, while the Honor Magic V2 simply doesn’t support it at all.

It seems like a strange omission from the Honor Magic V2 considering both phones have similar features and pricing, but at least it makes it easier for wireless charging fans to pick which phone they want!

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 – Yes 99%
Honor Magic V2 – No 20%

🏆 Winner: Xiaomi Mix Fold 3

Our Pick

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 Reviews

I was able to play around with this thing in person and it completely changed my mind on foldables. Other foldables I looked at always had something unappealing about them, whether it be the camera, narrow screen, cheap feel, obnoxious hinge, or unimpressive performance. This phone has a good camera, the screen feels about as wide as a non-foldable, the build feels sturdy, the hinge has good heft to it and is basically unnoticeable when using the main screen, and comes with the latest chipset and 12+ GB RAM. In terms of physical components, this phone feels like it has everything. With all these things, relative to the other foldables, the pricing is good too. If I was looking for a foldable, I would grab this one without any hesitation. If I were to make one criticism, it would be that I feel like Xiaomi's cameras in general are a bit saturated (even on Leica authentic, although to a lesser extent). But I do recognize that just as I prefer true-to-life colour balancing, others may prefer Xiaomi's colour balancing.

Got the 12/256 Carbo Mix Fold 3 all I can say it’s beyond IMPRESSIVE. Although I know its China release only the phone can be used with all Google Services outside China however it takes a lot of time to manually install almost everything one need to get it Google orientated. Thanks to Xiaomi to allow uninstallation of Chinese based apps. Also, thanks t Xiaomi for allowing to change of AI Engine from Mi (pure Chinees) to Google Assistant and the best option yet NONE. It’s a magnificent device with all the premium hardware and feel and the first Foldable that actually feels as a normal phone when folded and yet once unfolded become a beautiful and useful pad. I have no idea how they made this thing so thin as it is, really thin about the size of any other premium non-foldable flagship phone on market today. Operation wise its lightning fast and now during my initial days, of constant doing “something”, optimizing fiddling around , camera modes , games , watching Netflix or Disney for about 45 min the battery usually ends to about 30% before I go to sleep and put it on the Wireless charger ( in last 4 days On charger at 0000 taken off 0545) ,I believe the battery will last even longer once I stop playing and fiddling around so much and start use the phone as per my real needs . To bad Xiaomi decide not to release this device globally as the competition would have a strong foldable flagship to compete with on the global market . I guess it’s a win without a battle for Samsung then, too bad however I’m very glad to have it 😊

I would like to switch from Z fold 4 to this. But the lack of software support/features compared to Samsung is holding. Everything in Honor hardware is better. Except software features/stability is the best on Samaung phones.
