The Next x Yale Lock, on the other hand, is only available as a keyless lock. This is not a necessarily bad thing, mind you, but we prefer having more options when it comes to our house’s safety.

When it comes to app compatibility, the Yale Assure 2 has an overall larger spread of compatible apps. This includes standard assistant apps, such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, but it’s also compatible with Yale’s own Yale Home App. The Yale Home App allows for a large amount of customization since it’s capable of storing up to 250 access codes, which is frankly excessive!
You’ll also find that it’s quite easy to make the Assure 2 work alongside other smart home apps, such as Samsung’s SmartThings. However, it doesn’t work at all with Google Nest! That’s where the Next x Yale Lock comes into play.
The Next x Yale has much more limited compatibility, even compatibility with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa is barebones. But, to make up for it, it has full support for Google Nest!
We give the win here to the Yale Assure 2 due to its wider compatibility, but you should favor the Nest x Yale if your smart home relies on Google Nest for functionality.

Both the Nest x Yale Lock and the Yale Assure 2 have an Auto-Lock feature, but it works somewhat differently between the due. After all, they each use a different app for configuration!
The Nest x Yale Lock only allows you to choose one of three preset timers: 10 seconds, 1 minute, and 5 minutes. Not much more customization than that, which is honestly a shame! On the other hand, the Yale Assure 2 allows for a much more custom timer that can last anywhere from a few seconds to up to 30 whole minutes.
Additionally, only the Yale Assure 2 supports the newer Auto-Unlock feature. This handy feature uses connectivity features like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well as GPS to unlock the door when you approach it. No need to fiddle with keys or passwords, quite handy!

Overall, the Yale Assure 2 easily takes the cake over the Nest x Yale Lock. It makes it easy to choose it as our winner in this comparison! It has a better feature set, more options, and better app compatibility. The only failing is the lack of Google Nest compatibility, truth be told!
